This guitar was built for the documentary series ‘Wild Kingdom – Britain’s National Parks’, broadcast on European channel Arte. This documentary will be broadcast in 2026 on BBC2 as ‘Inside Britain’s National Parks’.
In the documentary you can see the instrument receiving it’s finishing touches and first set of strings.
It has since been exhibited in the New Forest Heritage Centre in Lyndhurst, as well as being a demonstration instrument at a few shows and exhibitions.
It was built to be as simple as possible in appearance, using just three exterior timbers (plus some mahogany in the interior). It is punchy, elegant, and comfortable to carry and play.
The ash for the back and sides show fantastic subtle colour and signs of ash dieback.
It has a couple of (very) minor dings that have been repaired, but is otherwise pristine. Sold as ex-demo. It has been built for strap buttons but is currently not fitted with any, I would be happy to make a set of custom buttons in either ebony or bocote to match the guitar, or otherwise to fit a set of black buttons to match the tuning machines.
A pickup and hardcase may be added at cost.
